General Information

Description

Every year on the first day of college, UWSP students get a syllabus. Even though you're an alumnus now, we didn't want you to miss out on this tradition. Below is your (funny, satirical, but honest) syllabus for being an alum.

Expectations and Goals

As an alumnus, your No. 1 goal should always be to pass on Pointer pride. Your goals as an alum are all about staying connected. Your expectations are similar to your goals. We expect that you stay connected with your fellow Pointers and always demonstrate your Pointer Pride. Here is some inspiration on how to best demonstrate your Pointer pride.

Grading Scale

As an alumnus, we would like to grade you on participation. But we love all our alumni, to be honest, and we're not good at giving out grades. If you've made it this far, you get an A. An A+ if you sign up for anything.

Attendance Policy

As an alumnus you are part of a hybrid program. You are allowed to attend online (email, social media, etc.) or in person (at Homecoming or other UWSP events.)

Course Materials

Below is a list of things you should have in order to be a good alumnus.

  • Membership to password protected, online Pointers only community, The Connecting Point.
    • This makes it easy for you to connect with your fellow alumni and keep your information up to date. As a member, when you register for an event or make a gift, your address information will already be there for you.
    • Become a member here - it's easy and free. It's like LinkedIn, but without all the annoying notifications.
  • An alumni lapel pin. Email alumni@uwsp.edu if you need one.
  • Connect with the alumni social media pages. This is the most effective way to stay up to date with what is happening on campus and within the community.
  • Your very own Flat Stevie (pictured right). You can print him here, or email the alumni office to have one mailed to you.

Assignments

  • Sign up for the weekly alumni eNewsletter, Straight to the Point.
  • Come home on October 14 for Homecoming.
  • Pass on your alumni lapel pin to at least one fellow Pointer (and email alumni@uwsp.edu to get another one for yourself).
  • Interact weekly with the alumni social media pages. and invite your friends to like and follow them.
  • Invite your fellow Pointers to the Facebook Homecoming event
  • Attend at least one Pointer event this year, including, but not limited to:
    • Homecoming
    • Day of Service held by an alumni chapter in your area
    • A small get-together with your college besties
  • Update your information (address, phone number, email address) with the alumni office.
  • Take a photo with Flat Stevie (pictured above) whenever you go somewhere cool or feel like taking a selfie.
  • When posting photos that show your Pointer pride on social media, use #UWSPAlumni.
  • Visit the Capital Campaign website.
  • Save the date for this year's Day of Giving (the D.O.G.): May 1, 2018
(This will count as extra credit, as it is not happening in the Fall of 2017.)
